Kalisia is a self taught artist. Born in Jamaica in 1975, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1985. She is currently based in Bowie, Maryland. Kalisia works primarily in pastels, but also paints with acrylics. “I think there is an intimacy involved with pastel painting. The painting literally flows from my fingers.” Kalisia’s paintings often depict Caribbean themes and peoples. “I’ve developed a great love of Asian art from my travels, and I love to emulate those styles and themes as well.” Kalisia’s paintings are in several private collections in the United States.
